The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH)

“The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) is one of the world’s leading specialist orthopaedic hospitals and has been on the cutting edge of orthopaedic care for over 100 years”.

In January 2009 David Holmes had an accident that left him paralysed, after his accident David was based in the Stanmore Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) for 6 months, where the staff took great care of him. In April 2013 David had the honour of being made an Appeal Ambassador for the RNOH and enjoys being involved in charity and fundraising events for the RNOH.

David’s Go Fund Me…..Raising money for the RNOH Charity

HELP DAVID RAISE MONEY FOR THE ROYAL NATIONAL ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL (RNOH) CHARITY

Right now, people from all over the world are showing me a lot of love and support following the release of my documentary David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived. I have been overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness as I have shared my personal story and openly disclosed my journey before and after my accident.

The main reason I am able to be here now is due to the expert team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) and the specialist treatment I received. That’s why I chose to become an Ambassador for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Charity.

The Spinal Cord Injury Centre, where I stayed, is dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation for individuals like me who have experienced a life changing spinal cord injury. Funds are needed for the out-dated Day Room, to create a space that enhances the wellbeing of patients, promotes socialisation, and offers a positive patient experience during their rehabilitation journey. This isn’t just a Day Room, it’s a vital part of recovery, helping the mind as well as the body.

“Spinal Cord Injury paralyses someone every 4 hours”

“The RNOH Charity strengthens and supports the vital work of the RNOH on an on-going basis by funding extra services and facilities that are beyond the reach of the hospital’s NHS budget.”

Please could I ask that you support this incredible hospital that means so much to me and so many others by giving only what you can afford. We aim to raise the funds before Christmas so that work can start in the New Year.

Let’s give the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital the best Christmas present possible. Together, we can create a Day Room that not only enhances the rehabilitation experience but also brings joy, hope, and a sense of home to individuals facing the challenges of spinal cord injury.

Thank you so much for helping to support the hospital to rebuild lives like mine. Best wishes, David Holmes x

In the event that we raise surplus funds, the RNOH Charity will allocate these funds towards its most pressing needs and general charitable activities.

The David Holmes Cricket Cup

The David Holmes Cricket Cup began in the summer of 2009, after David’s accident, to raise money for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH). Since then, each summer, the event has been hosted for David’s family and friends, where the two teams, Gryffindor and Slytherin, have battled it out for the trophy and continued to raise money for the RNOH. Since hosting the event the The David Holmes Cricket Cup has raised over £100,000 for the RNOH and approximately £50,000 for other various Spinal Charities.

In the Summer of 2023 we hosted our 14th David Holmes Cricket Cup, the event raised £5,000 for The RNOH. Slytherin won the Trophy by one wicket, making it 7 overall wins for both Gryffindor and Slytherin, which will definitely make next year an exciting match!

Thank you to everyone who has supported the David Holmes Cricket Cup.
